Police are investigating the alleged rape of a teenage girl who revealed her experience during a live stunt featuring a lie detector on commercialcheap watches radio station 2DayFM yesterday. Shock jock Kyle Sandilands and his co-host Jackie O invited a mother to ask her 14-year-old daughter questions about her experiences with sex and drugs while she was supposedly hooked up to a lie detector. The segment was cut short when the girl said she had benZenith watches raped when she was 12 years old. Sandilands responded by asking the girl: "Is that the only experience you've had?" The mother admitted she had found out about the rape months earlier. The stunt has outraged many in the community, from rape Longines watchescounsellors to an assistant police commissioner and the New South Wales Community Services Minister. A joint investigation response team, made up of police, the Oris watchesDepartment of Community Services (DoCS) and NSW Health, will investigate the rape allegation. NSW Community Services Minister Linda Burney says DoCS has already visited the girl, who had not made a complaint to police. "The young girl has had some support and some counselling and that will continue," Ms Burney said. The Minister says the mother should have reported the Panerai watchesrape allegation to police. She says a radio show is no place for a woman to ask her daughter such personal questions. "One of the concerns that I have is what this does to the relationship between mum and daughter," she said. "I think there would be a whole range of issues aroundRado watches trust, perhaps a feeling of exploitation of the young girl. "I hope that the parent involved is asking themselves whether or not they were very wise in what seemed like a fun activity, particularly if she was aware that the rape had taken place." 'Exploitation radio' Child psychiatrist Professor Louise Newman, from MonashVacheron Constantin watches University, says the experience could have been very damaging for the girl. Professor Newman, the president of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, says the 14-year-old should have been screened before taking part in the live segment. "There are always issues about minors and young people engaging in these sorts of quite sensational approaches," she said. "There are particularly questions that need to be asked of the station involved as to their particular judgement about involving young people in a program like this. "I think many of us would have serious concerns about whether that constitutes a form of exploitation of young people and whether young people can actually give consent and fully understand the ramifications of this sort of program." She says the issue of sexual abuse should be discussed Patek Philippe watchespublicly but the radio station trivialised the problem. "It presented it as something that's for popular entertainment almost," she said. "It was a very poor response and we now have a situation which might potentially discourage other people who have been victims of sexual abuse actually disclosing that or discussing that in an appropriate way. "It's sending an implicit message that this is not to be taken very seriously. "The response after the disclosure - 'Was that the only form of sexual activity you've engaged in?' - was utterly inappropriate, probably in a state of shock, I imagine, but clearly unthought through and unprepared and it sends a potential message that this is not a particularly serious issue."
